Lisgriffin National School was opened in 1933. The School played a very important role in the rural community and surrounding areas, enabling children to attend school within reasonable distance from their home, back in those days with limited transportation you will appreciate the importance of its establishment.

Since its opening over 85 years ago the school has been a massive contribution to so many many people's lives. Generations of families have received first class education within its buildings, it has served as a binding force within the community and we are so proud of its history and its accomplishments.

In 2009 we did major works to the grounds and building to future proof it for today’s world. It is the people that have been involved in the school that have made it such a center of educational excellence. Many of our students have been in the top percentile in Ireland for many subjects when tested under state examinations.

Since the renovations we simply love the space which is warm, safe and very functional. We have lots of room for play as well as learning. We have all the facilities needed to ensure the perfect environment for all that we do within the school year.

The school is now so accessible to all as we are within a short driving distance to many surrounding towns. There is no traffic congestion and we have a dedicated parking zone for the drop off and pick up of the children.

Lisgriffin National School has a rich history steeped in education, committed to children’s development and passionate about the possibilities for their future as a result of the foundation our school provides, they enter our doors as children and leave as young adults. We look forward to creating new history by welcoming children for generations to come.
